International Cooperation

International Cooperation

International cooperation is an integral part of activity of the university. From the moment of establishment of ESSUTM the great attention is given to expansion of international contacts and integration of the university into the international scientific and educational space.

Nowadays foreign partners of the university in the sphere of education, scientific, technical and cultural cooperation are the educational and scientific institutions, companies, international organizations and funds from China, Mongolia, Germany, Poland, France, Turkey, Slovenia, Kazakhstan, etc.

Within the frame of cooperation contracts with the Mongolian high schools and organizations such as Mongolian State University of Science and Technologies, Mongolian National University, Mongolian State University of Agriculture, International University of Ulaanbaatar and others  joint research works, passage of professional training of teachers, language and industrial practices of students, preparation of highly skilled scientific and pedagogical shots for Mongolia through postgraduate study of the university are carried out.

Last years communications with high schools of the Peoples Republic of China especially in the field of joint preparation of students have been actively developed. The university has a number of contracts for the bachelor studies with Institute of International Commerce at Tszilin Institute of Russian in Changchun, Manchurian Institute of Inner Mongolia University, and also for bachelor and specialist studies in Computer Science Institute «Neusoft» in Northeast University of Dalian.

Moreover, the university co-operates with Shenyan Technical University, Chanchun Technical University, Manchurian Professional College, Wuhan Textile University in the field of joint scientific researches, training of the Chinese students in Russian, organization of language and regional geographic internships for the Russian students.

Besides the cooperation with foreign partners from APR countries the university has contractual relations with University of Adam Mickiewicz in Poznan (Poland), Technical University of Dresden (Germany), University of Nice Sofia-Antipolis (France), Ushak University (Turkey).

Cooperation with the above-stated partners provides realization of joint scientific researches, carrying out of scientific conferences and seminars, preparation of experts in programs of double diplomas.

Main objectives and tasks

  • Working out of regional strategy of the university’s representation in the international market of educational services and its integration in international educational and scientific systems;
  • Escalating of educational services export of the university for attraction of additional financial and material means for university development;
  • Expansion of the university’s activity in participation in the international educational programs, projects, grants.
  • Increase in the academic mobility of students, post-graduate students and teachers.
  • Establishment of foreign branches, centers, university representations abroad.

Education of foreigners at the ESSUTM is carried out since 1992. During this time, more than 2,000 foreign students studied at the university. Currently, about 200 foreign citizens from China, the Republic of Korea, Mongolia, the USA and the CIS countries study at the university.

ESSUTM offers foreign citizens, stateless persons and compatriots living abroad the Russian language courses, the preparatory courses, undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate programs to study.

The university also offers internships in economic, technical and humanitarian fields.

One academic year at ESSUTM consists of three trimesters.

  • Trimester 1, commencing in September, is 16 weeks long
  • Trimester 2, commencing in January, is 16 weeks long
  • Trimester 3, commencing in May (optional/fast track), is 8 weeks long (mainly intended for internships and research)

The applicants enroll according to the results of the entrance examinations.

In advance and before your visit to Ulan-Ude, please, contact the international relations office for all necessary information: educational programs, dates and requirements for the exams, papers for admission and visa, and other details of your visit.

  1. Contact the office and arrange the details of your visit. You will find contact information at the end of this page.
  2. Come to Ulan-Ude with all original documents required for the admission.
  3. Provide the university admissions committee with all the required documents:
    • Application (as directed);
    • Passport with visa and migration card, and copy with a notarized translation into Russian;
    • Document of the previous education with a notarized translation into Russian;
    • Official copy of academic record (Transcript with the list of all subjects and marks) with a notarized translation into Russian;
    • Statements of equivalence of the education certificate (for the certificates outside the Russian Federation) – if required;
    • Medical certificate given by medical facilities, confirming that you do not have contraindications for studies in the Russian Federation and at the faculty you are applying to;
    • Negative AIDS and RW test results valid on the territory of the Russian Federation;
    • Chest photofluorography result; vaccination against measles, diphtheria (not more than 5 years ago), rubella and hepatitis B.
    • Eight 3x4 cm photographs.
    • Compatriots living abroad must provide copies of documents or other evidence confirming the identity of a compatriot living abroad, the status of which is determined by Federal Law of May 24, 1999 No. 99-ФЗ “On State Policy of the Russian Federation Regarding Compatriots Abroad”.

Please, mind, that the international office has the right to require additional info.

  1. Receive the invitation letter.

To get a letter of invitation, necessary for receiving a student visa, please send (via mail, fax or e-mail) to the international office the photocopy of the first two pages of passport and filled form (you may find it in Documents). The passport must be valid for at least 18 months from the start date of the student visa. Please find out the details of getting visa in the Russian Embassy in your country. It takes about 45 days to get the letter of invitation, which is why we recommend sending all the documents as soon as possible. Upon arrival in Ulan-Ude, a foreign citizen must submit a passport, visa, migration card, 6 3x4 photographs to the Office of International Relations for migration registration.

  1. Pass the exams.
  2. Conclude the educational agreement.

Your expenses may include:

  • Tuition fee.
  • Visa support fees.
  • Cost of accommodation in the students' dormitory.
  • Cost of medical certificate and AIDS test.
  • Health insurance or contract for medical service.
  • Additional expenditures on translation and legalization of the academic documents, food, transportation, etc.

The university offers to international students:

  • free use of educational, technical, fiction and periodicals in the library of the ESSUTM;
  • accommodation in a university dormitory in 2-3 local rooms with public amenities;
  • providing, if necessary, medical assistance at the university student clinic, assistance in obtaining medical insurance for foreign students during their stay in the Russian Federation.
