Faculty of Service, Technology and Design
History
On November 26, 1962 the Order of the Higher and Secondary
Professional Education of the Russian Federation № 789 enacted establishment
of the Technology Department with two educational programs: 1009 - "Meat and Meat Products Technology",
1106 - "Leather and Fur Technology" in the East Siberian Institute of Technology.
M.P. Antimonov, Assoc. Prof. was the first Dean (1962 - 1964).
Later, K.B. Mohosoev (1964 - 1966), V.N. Biltrikov (1966 - 1968), I.A. Commissarov
(1968 - 1969), B.A. Baldaev (1969 - 1973), E.G. Shapkhaev (1973 - 1977) were the Deans.
Each of them made a significant contribution to the development of the educational process,
facilities and equipment of the Department. Thus, the Chair of “Leather Goods Technology"
was organized in 1974, which later was named as
"Light Industry Produce Technology” with educational program " Leather Goods Technology”.
Since 1977 to 1987 the Technology Faculty was headed by
Daria Tsydenovna Tsybikova, Cand. of Sciences in Chemistry, Assoc. Prof. At that time,
the Department frequently becomes the winner of socialist
competition at the Institute, the winner of amateur art activities at the republican competitions.
In 1987 as the Faculties underwent reorganization according
to the branch of industry, therefore the Technology Department was named as
"Mechanical Engineering Faculty of Light Industry (MEDLI), uniting "The Leather and
Fur Technology, " Light Industry Produce Technology", "Machinery and Apparata of
Light Industry" chairs. The Department was headed by
Leonid Andreevich Berdnikov, cand. of Sciences in Engineering, Assoc. Prof. (1987 - 2003).
New educational programs were opened from 1987 to 2003:
- 1989 - "Leather Goods Design";
- 1992 - "Clothes Technology";
- 1998 - " Clothes Design”;
- 1999 - "Commodity Research and Examination in the Field
of Manufacturing and Processing of Non-Foods and Raw Materials”.
Fedor Kondratjevich Chistyakov, cand. of Sciences in Engineering,
Assoc. Prof. is acting Dean of the Department since 2003. In 2004 the Department was
named the Department of Service, Technology and Design (FSTD)
because new educational programs in the field of service and design were started.
Structure
At present there are:
- Seven Chairs - five majoring, and two supplementary;
- Educational research and production complex: "ECOM" and "Gutal";
- Two scientific research laboratories: the Laboratory of light industry
production - 1997, the Laboratory on water toxicity and water extractions - 2006.

The main aims and objectives are
- to meet the needs of individuals in the intellectual, cultural
and moral development through higher and postgraduate professional education;
- to meet the needs of society and the state in qualified specialists with higher education;
- to organize and conduct fundamental investigations, applied research and
other scientific, research and development works;
- training, refreshing and development training of specialists and executive employees;
- accumulation, preservation and increase of moral, cultural and scientific values of the society;
- propagation of knowledge among the population, improving its educational and cultural level.
